WHAT'S BTQ?

  • Hospitality Net's Behind the Quote (BTQ) initiative aims to enhance readers' understanding by offering deeper insights and additional perspectives on selected stories. The objective is to provide valuable, original content that complements the primary articles. Responses must adhere to a concise format, ensuring feedback does not exceed three paragraphs or 300 words per question. This brevity ensures clarity and reader engagement while maintaining focus on delivering substantial value.

  • Contributions to BTQ should strive to deliver unique insights and information that is not readily apparent in the original articles. This means avoiding repetitive summaries and instead focusing on expanding the conversation with new data, expert analysis, or contextual background that enhances the reader's comprehension. The aim is to illuminate aspects of the story that may not be immediately obvious, providing depth and fostering a more nuanced understanding of the topic at hand.

  • While responses must be informative and insightful, they must not serve as overt commercial pitches. The emphasis should be on providing genuine value through thoughtful commentary and well-researched insights rather than promoting specific products or services. This approach ensures that the BTQ initiative remains a trusted source of high-quality, editorially sound content that prioritizes the reader's need for knowledge and understanding.

WHY BTQ?

  1. Enhanced Understanding: To provide HN readers with a comprehensive view of the news by exploring the context and nuances behind press releases and opinion pieces.

  2. Direct Insights: To deliver firsthand feedback and insights directly from the sources involved, offering a unique perspective that goes beyond the initial news report.

  3. Critical Analysis: To offer short and concise expert opinions and critical analysis that help the audience understand the implications and background of the news.

WHAT'S A BTQ REQUEST?

  • A BTQ request is an email sent to the issuer of a press release or the author of an opinion article published on HN. It contains a set of up to three questions asking for additional insights or opinions.

  • In the email, HN requests that a news source provide feedback based on a recent press release or opinion article.

  • With a set of a maximum of 3 questions, HN aims to gain firsthand feedback and insights directly from the sources involved, offering a unique perspective that goes beyond the initial news report.

  • Hospitality Net's editorial team or members of HN's network of domain experts formulate the questions in a BTQ request.

WHAT'S BTQ FEEDBACK?

  • A link in the BTQ request email allows the issuer of a press release or the author of an opinion article to provide feedback using a simple form and provide any additional background if required.

  • Responding and delivering requested feedback quickly (within 48 hours) maximizes its impact and visibility, enhancing the overall value for HN's readership.

  • Please provide a short and concise response for each proposed question.

  • Make sure to clearly mark the name and title of the person providing the answer.

  • Once your feedback is published, we'll promptly notify you via email.

  • Feel free to reach out to us with any questions at [email protected].

HOW DOES THIS GET PUBLISHED?

  • HN BTQ feedback is embedded as additional commentary, and get featured in HN's daily newsletter (see BTQ samples here).
